The operation of passive GPS doesn’t provide the receipt of near real-time monitoring data. Such monitoring devices store all data in its onboard memory until the enrollee enters the RF signal range of a home-based monitoring unit, which transmits the data to the central monitoring application using analog/landline or digital phone service in the enrollee’s home.
BluTag Passive functions like a passive GPS monitoring device. However, it also functions in the same manner as BluTag Active, except it stores all monitoring data in its onboard memory and doesn’t generate immediate event notifications. BluTag Passive is paired with BluHome, which is our home-based monitoring unit.
Once the enrollee enters the RF signal range of BluHome, BluTag Passive recognizes the presence of the unit and begins transmitting all stored monitoring data through the signal. Once BluHome receives the data, it immediately calls into VeriTracks using the analog/landline or digital phone service in the enrollee’s home to transmit the data. VeriTracks then forwards event notifications to the designated supervising agent/officer for appropriate management.
