Passive GPS monitoring doesn't generate near real-time event notifications. GPS monitoring devices operating in passive mode store all data in its onboard memory. If the passive GPS monitoring device has the ability to transmit data to VeriTracks using nationwide cellular phone service, it has a pre-set schedule for doing this, such as once every eight hours. If the device doesn't have the requisite cellular phone technology built into it, then it must be paired with a home-based monitoring unit, which transmits all monitoring data.
BluTag Passive receives GPS location points once every minute and functions like BluTag Active, except it does not generate near real-time event notifications. All monitoring data is stored in the device's onboard memory. It can transmit data using nationwide digital cellular phone service or through BluHome, a home-based monitoring unit. BluTag Passive
BluTag Passive emits an encrypted radio frequency (RF) signal that BluHome receives. When enrollees enter the RF signal range of BluHome, BluTag Passive recognizes the presence of the unit and transmits all stored monitoring data through the signal. Once BluHome receives the data, it immediately calls into VeriTracks using the analog/landline or digital phone service in the enrollee's home to transmit the data. VeriTracks then forwards event notifications to the designated supervising agent/officer for appropriate management. Click on the BluHome link to the left for more information.
When BluTag Passive transmits monitoring data using nationwide cellular phone service, it is paired with BluBox. This GPS monitoring accessory provides additional confirmation of an enrollee's presence at a specific location. Click on the BluBox link to the left for more information.
