The Automated Crime Scene Correlation (ACSC) tool is part of VeriTracks and helps expand STOP’s monitoring system into a comprehensive criminal justice application. If the supervising agency wants to partner with local law enforcement agencies, this tool can help facilitate such a relationship.
VeriTracks receives data on reported crimes from the law enforcement agency’s records management system and automatically compares that information with the movements of enrollees. When an enrollee has been in the vicinity of a reported crime, the ACSC tool creates a report that includes this information. This data is rated based on the time of day when the enrollee was in the vicinity of the reported crime, the length of time spent in the vicinity of the reported crime and the enrollee’s proximity to the location of the reported crime.
This tool helps law enforcement officers develop more viable suspect lists in less time. It also eliminates enrollees who may fit the profile of the perpetrator, but wasn’t in the vicinity of the crime. Law enforcement agencies can also use ACSC as an additional surveillance tool by creating zones around geographic areas that are known for certain criminal activity. This allows law enforcement personnel to immediately determine what monitored enrollees are entering and/or loitering in these restricted zones.
